Steve Fiering

Steve Fiering was really a Hertzenberg lab graduate student that spent a lot of time in the lab and with Cor Verwei developed the NF-AT LacZ system now commonly used for measuring transcriptional activity in individual cells. He used this technique to show that genes seemed to be in an “off” or “on” state and hence appear to have a qualitative mode of regulation. Steve is now an Associate Professor at Dartmouth College in Hanover NH.
